Filtration & Separation Solutions
Embrace Ultimate Application Challenges of Filtration, Separation, and Purification Technology
Blood Product Filtration
The types of blood products have been continuously increasing with the development of separation and purification processes. In order to enhance the utilization of blood products and in compliance with relevant regulations issued by the National Medical Products Administration, effective separation and purification methods for blood products has significantly improved their safety. At the same time, it has brought substantial economic benefits to blood product companies.

Typical Process for Blood Products
A typical process for blood products often utilizes a low-temperature ethanol method. This method starts with mixed plasma as the raw material and gradually lowers the pH value (from 7.0 to 4.0). The ethanol concentration is increased from 0 to 40%, while the temperature is lowered from 2°C to -2°C. Under different conditions, various proteins will precipitate step by step as components (crude products) from the solution and are separated through centrifugation/filtration, and other methods.
Production processes of blood products
• Preliminary Filtration: Simple primary filtration using membrane capsule to obtain a crude solution.
• Multi-stage Precipitation and Filtration: After low-speed gradient centrifugation, the precipitate is separated from the crude solution, followed by deep filtration to achieve plasma clarification filtration.
• Chromatography: This step uses affinity chromatography or ion exchange chromatography.
• U ltrafiltration Concentration: Membrane components (ultrafiltration concentration), such as flat membranes, can meet basic concentration process requirements.
• Chromatography: Again, affinity chromatography technology is used to quickly and efficiently obtain the target plasma protein. So far, affinity chromatography has been used for the production of various licensed medical plasma products.
• Virus Removal Filtration: Virus removal is commonly performed using 20 nm virus removal filters.
• Sterile Filtration and Packaging: 0.22μm membranes are commonly used for terminal sterile filtration and subsequent packaging.
