Greener World Starts Here — Aqueous Waste Recovery Redefined

2026-04-14

Project Background
  • In automotive coating production, valve spraying systems—including CCV valves, gear pumps, needle valves in spray guns, spiral pipes, and rotary bell atomizers—require frequent cleaning. This process typically consumes a significant volume of cleaning agents, leading to a high cumulative annual solvent usage. To reduce VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) emissions, the use of water-based cleaning solvents can lower VOC output by 80%, keeping emissions below TÜV/GM* standards.

  • Water-based solvents are generally formulated from a specific ratio of ethylene glycol monomethyl ether (ME), other ethers, and alcohols, offering excellent cleaning performance against coatings, oils, and impurities. However, the resulting water-based wastewater presents both coating costs and environmental challenges.

  • To address these issues, a recovery system is proposed to reclaim the water-based solvents from wastewater. This will minimize the volume of wastewater transported for external treatment while simultaneously reducing fresh solvent consumption.

Coating Wastewater Purification and Treatment

Every liter of aqueous waste solvent you discharge is money going down the drain—and an environmental burden you're carrying.

Water-Based Paint Sludge Treatment

  • Process: Sludge removal using a backflushing (MRC) Tubular Filter following flocculation, paired with a Rotary Drum Belt Automatic Filter.
  • Goal: Water reclamation and reuse.

Solvent-Based (Oil-Based) Paint Wastewater

  • Process: Flocculation (EP) for sludge removal. Two-stage membrane concentration (Nanofiltration + RO) to recover organic solvents. Make-up reuse + MVR (Mechanical Vapor Recompression) evaporation and concentration.
  • Goal: Simultaneous recovery of both solvents and water to achieve Near-Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD).

System Process Flow

The Chemical-Physical Waste Solvent Recovery System is a hybrid process integrating chemical treatment with physical separation. Based on the specific composition of the waste solvents, the system utilizes a sequence of flocculation and sedimentation, pre-filtration, oil removal (optional), and ultrafiltration (UF) concentration.

✓ Recovery rate can exceed 80%!

✓ Fully automated online monitoring—safe and reliable

✓ Simple maintenance and extremely low energy consumption

✓ Modular installation for fast and efficient deployment!

The pre-filtration system removes 99% of solid components, achieving a removal rate of over 99% for impurities larger than 1 µm. The filtrate then enters the ultrafiltration concentration system, which operates with a precision of 7–82 nm. This process recovers both water and solvent components from the wastewater, with recovery rates for solvent-based water reaching 80% or higher.

Technical Advantages of the Turnkey System

Feature-Tec's Recovery System changes that.→ High recovery rates → Multi-industry applications → Ultra-clean filtration standards

  • Self-Cleaning Pre-Filtration: Utilizes the backflush pre-filtration system with fully automated, enclosed operation. It enables dry cake discharge, significantly reducing labor intensity for operators.

  • High Separation Efficiency: The integrated oil removal system effectively lowers oil content, extending the flux and service life of the membrane recovery unit by several fold.

  • Advanced Membrane Concentration: Employs the Dreyer membrane concentration system, capable of intercepting all fine particles and sub-micron droplets.

  • Staged Processing: The system uses a step-by-step, multi-stage treatment approach, which prevents clogging and ensures high operational stability.

  • Low Maintenance & Reliability: Features a high degree of automation and a non-intensive design, resulting in exceptionally low operation and maintenance (O&M) costs.
