Boiler Feed Water Filtration Application
Boiler feed water is mainly used to supplement the loss of steam vapor in systems. Treatment for the feed stream can be separated into pre-treatment and desalination processes. Most of the water supply comes from natural sources such as rivers, reservoirs, lakes and groundwater, while some power plants use tap water as a water source.
The main purpose of pre-treatment is to remove sediments such as clay, humus and colloidal particles from the raw water, reducing turbidity to 1-5mg/L. As water quality vary due to different local hydrological conditions, different water treatment such as pipe filtration, settling, clarification and adsorption processes are required. Due to the high salt content of the water, electrodialysis or reverse osmosis can be implemented prior to desalination processes to ease the load on the ion exchange equipment.
