The Legend of Chang'e: The Tale Behind the Mid-Autumn Festival

Long ago, the hero Houyi shot down nine scorching suns to save the earth and was rewarded with an elixir of immortality. To protect it from a wicked disciple, Houyi's loving wife, Chang'e, swallowed the elixir herself. She instantly floated up toward the heavens, ultimately choosing the Moonas her home so she could stay as close as possible to her husband. 

To this day, people gaze at the glowing full moon during the Mid-Autumn Festival to remember Chang'e and wish for reunion with their loved ones. 🌙✨
