Filter Separators are used to remove liquid and solid particles from gas stream. Filter Separators consist of 2 chambers with 2-stage separation process. The first stage removes bulk liquid and solid particles. The second stage employs vane pack or mesh pad for finer liquid removal. Filter Separators can be installed in both horizontal and vertical vessel.
Filter Separators are designed in accordance with ASME VIII Div.1
Stamped vessels are avaible upon request.
Principle of Operation:
When the gas enters the vessel, the bulk liquid and the solid particles will encounter a labyrinth of pipe. The impingement will generate a centrifugal force which removes the solid and larger liquid particles, which will then drop to the bottom of the vessel. Finer suspended and un-removed particles will travel into the second stage of removal by either vane pads or mesh pads. The dry and cleaned gas will leave the vessel.
Separation Efficeincy:
Filter Separators are capable of 99~99.5% removal of liquid droplets 5 microns and larger, and solid particles 3 microns and larger.
Applications:
Filter Separators are widely used in natural gas, chemical, petrochemical, refineries and other gas processing plant where removal of liquid and solid contaminants from the gas stream is essential for various applications such as protection of turbines, gas compressors, instrumentation, to recover product, to prevent cylinder wear, to remove oil from steam, to minimise foaming etc.
